Let's Clean Up Europe is an annual clean up event under the banner of the European Waste Reduction Week. PlasticsEurope engaged in this initiative by motivating its members and by doing its own local cleanup around its offices.

As Marine Litter Solutions Programme Manager, I initiated and - together with several colleagues - organized this engagement across the years. The picture to the left shows the PlasticsEurope staff and various decision makers from plastics companies who participated in 2014.

Such cleanup events taught me personally a lot about littering as doing it annually gave me a great insight about the types of items littered and the accumulation points and potential reasons behind it. The latter is very useful to drive prevention action most effective to reduce litter levels in our environment.
